So have they done anything with it today? (2011) I work at a hotel in Crystal lake and we had ppl staying here that was there for a wake? Someone who was part of the mansion or something like that. I could very well be wrong. But can anyone tour it yet? I would love to see the inside of it. I was once in a paranormal group and we tried to get in there but was denied. The group is no longer going about.... But I would love to see it just for myself. I hope they do something soon with it.

Is this Dole, as in pineapple?

Beautiful, I can see an extravagant Victorian masterpiece behind those crumpling walls.

I went to this boarding schooll in the early 1960's . Thank you for bringing back some memories. I am currently writing a book, and a couple chapters of it will tell of my time there.

@GoldFishPro9999 The painting is of Mr Dole himself
Yes its that Dole, the man who founded the Dole company, and yes its a shame that its taking so long to preserve that part of the building that matters.

@RufusTobat Im in the opinion now that they really dont give a care about it. They've done nothing to fix it up sadly...

I love the building, and a lot of work is being done to this day. I do however not like there plan to extend it to 'make the money' to repair the mansion. RESTORE THE MANSION EXTERIOR or all the interior work is wasted money and time. Its been extended once lets not make it a big joke. The beauty lies in the original building, adding new construction with the lack of quality the modern world brings is a poor move.

@RufusTobat im really not happy with what Lakeside Legacy has (not) done for the mansion. They don't seem to be doing a lot to it, and it's sad.

I used to volunteer at the Dole Mansion when it was owned by first congregational church never had any strange experiances in that house that could'nt be explained away. It just a old house.

@timtrotter42 I once read a tombstone. "To truley see, you must open your eyes and look beyond, open your ears and hear beyond". It's amazing what goes on right under our very noses that we have no idea about...
