by pulling elbow straight back, to shoulder height , any higher puts too much strain on shoulder and elbow. then rotate forearm & hand around past your ear in a small circle bringing fore arm to and a little behind the vertical position while rotating elbow forward and bringing your fore arm on through forward to it's release point, all the while keeping your hand behind the ball w/fingers on top of ball. viewing Rolen from front angle is great.
Hey Mike, your basic throwing video is very good..
If you do not mind I would like to add to it some things I learned about throwing from guy's like Rolen, freese,Furcal, back a few years to Johnny Hopp, Charley Fox, Bench and various others who throw and threw bullets to their targets. first thing is that infielders & catchers basically have the same type of arm movement & should let the elbow lead the ball in hand out of the glove w/hand behind ball
As a cricket coach I teach my kids that the throwing elbow should be at least as high as the shoulder, or higher. Other than that, it's all the same stuff.
