In my opinion, most natural birth advocates don't look down on moms who birth with lots of interventions or by c-section - it's the "establishment" that we take issue with. Doctors who pressure - openly or covertly - women into having interventions and c-sections.

If a mom knows about the drawbacks of birthing in a hospital or having a c-section and says "Okay, but I want that anyway", hey, more power to her. It's all about choice. But imo that's a very, very small percentage of women.

It really makes a huge difference... When I think of how traumatic my first birth at a "standard" hospital was... I had to fight for everything. My last baby was born at a hospital working for baby friendly certification, and despite a more complicated actual birth, the baby's side of things was so, so much better. It costs hospitals NOTHING to treat women and babies with respect.

I had the perfect birth and still couldn't breastfeed.

wow, what an aggressive lady you are. i am a doula, and hopefully will be doing my midwifery degree in autumn. there is NOTHING dumb about having a doula by your side, we are there to comfort and reassure, the midwives have a busy job and can't always give the one on one the mother requires. i am sorry to say, but you are definitely a country girl that doesn't rock. heaven help any of your friends (if you have any) that may need support.
