VY Canis Majoris,es una estrella hipergigante roja, siendo la más grande y una de las más luminosas conocidas por el hombre, se sitúa en la constelación Canis Major.
Es una estrella variable con Nebulosa Circun-estelar ubicada aproximadamente a 5000 años luz de la tierra. Sus dimensiones, suponen 0.85 años luz ó 0.25 parsecs.
