Vote for Focus: HOPE in the Toyota 100 Cars for Good program at http://www.facebook.com/toyota on July 14, 2011.
Established in 1968 in the wake of the previous summer's civil unrest in Detroit, Focus: HOPE pursues "intelligent and practical action to overcome racism, poverty, and injustice." Our Food Program feeds 42,000 senior citizens, mothers, and children each month. Our Education and Career Training programs have helped over 11,000 graduates in information technologies, engineering. advanced manufacturing, weatherization, and health care. Through a wide array of partnerships, programs, and services, the HOPE Village Initiative seeks to make our neighborhood a place where every child and family is able to reach their highest potential. For more information, please see www.focushope.edu
Focus: HOPE's wide array of programs serve almost 50,000 people across southeast Michigan each year, requiring reliable and safe transportation. Particularly with rising fuel costs, it is important for Focus: HOPE to have fuel efficient vehicles to deliver food to homebound senior citizens, transport volunteers between our various sites, and take students of all ages to educational and professional events across the region. A new Toyota vehicle would greatly enhance our ability to do all of these things and more.
