what a genius movie. it's a cynical commentary on the human condition, presented as a farcical and pointless spy thriller populated by a bunch of brain-dead, paranoid, greedy, sex-obsessed retards.

I agree, but killing off Brad Pitt's character took a lot of the edge of the film. He was the funniest one of the bunch and the violence became too much Pineapple Express after that. It was darkly funny, and could have been better with a more coherent script. The problem with the Coen Brothers's formula is that it requires a lot of imagination to make it work in more than one movie. In this one they missed the mark, really too bad.

that scene was quite the "oh shit" moment. You don't see this kind of stuff very often, that's why I love the coens. And malkovich swinging that axe in his underwear was just priceless.
