To the world INDIA may be a nation but for a wordsmith India is a world of stories and all stories have joy,sorrow,happiness,light,darkness,love, aloneliness,wounds,courage,bravery,all colours of life.But this story----- entitled Hariya Dom is conceived by soul and written by tears on the path of injured heart.
PROTAGONIST-
Story begins with the introduction of the protagonist Nishigandha Merchant [NRI], based in UK,a most popular novelist in fiction whose fanfollowing and readers circulation is increasing day by day.
One day her innersoul strikes her,that if GOD gave her the most valuable quality then why she wastes her art and thoughts for fictitious things.Next day Nishi tells her father that she is in search for an untouched story,a virgin subject by which she can win Booker Prize.
Nishi comes to India,her Motherland and starts her journey to get a genuine subject and finally she gets something which shakes the soul of progressive humanity.
STORYLINE-
The story is based in a smalltown named Dhampur,the story is about Hariya Dom who is a chandaal,a person who burns deadbodies in crematorium.Hariya gets married to a lady of his own cast named Charu.At the same time when the couple wait to celeberate their first night somebody knocks.Hariya comes to know that there is a deadbody coming towards shamshan.Hariya tries to ignore but the father of dead child who is a vaidya convinces him that everybody belongs to society has to fulfill his duties,Hariya agrees to burn the deadbody and ignores his charm for first night.
After Ten months,Charu giving birth to a child named Manav.
Story goes ahead.Most of the days Manav has to remain hungry.Manav gets food only when there is a death in the town.He is so much affected by hunger that the moment he sees a deadbody being brought the thought of getting food and clothes make him very happy that he starts dancing.When there is no death in town the entire family becomes sad.
Its called luck for Dhampur and badluck for Hariya's family that there is no funeral or deadbody came there since a couple of days.Charu suffers from hard fever.
Hariya goes to a local vaidya(Doctor),the same person for whom he sacrifices his suhagraat.Hariya tells him that his wife is very serious and struggling between life and death.Vaidya avoids,Hariya starts to remembering him,his morals,principals,duties and family values but the scruel vaidya doesn't come alongwith Hariya.And........Charu dies.
On the day when Manav waits for his parents he hears the sound of people chanting "Ram naam satya hai",which indicates the arrival of a corpse.As usual he comes out and starts dancing.While dancing he gets a glimpse of the dead person on looking at the face of dead person's face he realizes that the corpse is of her mother.He dances and falls dead on the corpse.
Atlast Nishigandha is back with a bitter truth which she cant forget ever.And the real journey of a real writer begins.......................
