  • Thank you for your videos. I live in Dallas and will be building my 40'x48' Loafing shed and have been using YouTube to see what the Pro's do. I have been quoted $8000 on the cheap end for the building, but I am not in a position to be able to pay that. With time and patience, I am hoping to do it myself for half the cost. I figure if I get the posts aligned straight, that is half the battle.

  • @chrama1 Good luck...If you have any questions just send me a message...Thanks for watching

  • @chrama1 Drill hole 18" and 4 ft. deep...Put 2 80lb bags of concrete in the bottom for footings...No concrete around post put post in first and level...Could pour floor then..At least 4 inch thick...Put at least a 2 ft. long piece of rebar drilled into each post out into the concrete to pin it...This keeps uplift from happening..I always frame my buildings all the way then pour the floor..Much easier...Thanks hope this helps..

  • whats a 50*80 pole barn cost these days with a concrete pad?

  • @cchanderson ..You know your stuff ! Could not say it better myself !

  • @MylanKlassen The concrete base is a great idea for ground that is not compacted...the bracket at the bottom sits the 6x6 1/2 inch off of the concrete. The comment about why not just move them above ground shows you truly don't understand the principals of pole barn construction. The 3 ft of compacted soil around the poles is superior for wind load than even a foundation stick built house. The poles transfer both snow and wind load into the soil.

  • I build the best...And after 3ft of snow.. I Rebuild the REST !

  • Well we go 4 ft. deep than put at least a 18 x 8 inch concrete footing, for the pole load...then with the 3 ft. fill around the pole it anchors it well...Much cheaper then poured 8 inch wall then frame walls above grade...But wall I believe to be better building...But pole const. can built around $12 a sq. ft. ( no floor ) materials and labor...Other const...Around $20

  • Thank you...I hope it helps you...Many people have different ways of doing things...And I still learn new ways too ! Mylanklassen actually did give me a few good ideas...I should have not got a little defensive.
