Facebook is an enormous waste of time for vacuous ninnies.
----------------------------------------------
Facebook is one of the biggest threats to privacy that exists. To me the worst practice they have is of allowing people to post photos of other people.
I have a friend who dated a guy for a few months. This guy has over six hundred facebook "friends" (the majority of which are likely total strangers). She grew tired of the relationship and broke up with him.
He posted hundreds of photos of the two of them on their dates, each tagged with her name. He posted over and over long rambling whiney essays full of self pity about how this girl had hurt him, how she was dishonest with him (she was 25, he was 45) and how he thought they were going to have a life together and she ruined his life...
Each of these stories, revealing not only his, but HER personal information and photos, was going out to every one of his 600+ "friends".
Facebook doesn't care about these situations. He's able to continue to post her pictures, her name, her personal information, presumably until she can afford a lawyer who can fire off a large enough threat to make facebook force him to take the stuff down.

I completely agree with the Privacy Commissioner's findings; it's absolutely ridiculous that Facebook gives out email adresses and your location to developpers who do not require this information for their applications to function properly.
What I'd really be most afraid of, above all, is if developpers were able to access information on which networks you are part of (there's no mention of that in the CBC article on this news story).
As a teenager who's very concerned about his online privacy, I would be totally appauled if Facebook was revealing the name of my high school to just about anyone who has figured out how to make a Facebook application.
Aside from the actual privacy issue, what I find even more stunning is that people (as seen in the above video) have no clue what the issue is actually about!!!
All of those Bumble-Brains should have been told that the issue is NOT AT ALL about who is able to view your profile (we all know of the infamous "limited profile" and "hide profile from search results" settings that prevent unauthorized individuals from seeing your profile)... it's about what information is revealed to the developpers of Facebook applications.
Some of us pride ourselves to be living their lives as an open book, standing a little apart from all the privacy-secrecy freaks one finds ALL over the place
And if part of what you are involves business, most business thrives from ADVERTISING
Hooray if the CIA can recruit some great social networkers into their fold because of their observation of facebook. I won't fear them until I start to make a religion hating the USA.
Use privacy settings to avoid bill collectors .. and evangelists!

It's like a Glenn Beck chalkboard conspiracy. The web and connecting everyone to everything, it's comical. How about relaxing and stop being so paranoid?

@JoeyBieg Accepting the truth does not make you paranoid, but it will set you free.

if youtube conducted a survey of people who believe this as total truth, you will get 12-17 year olds, relatively gullible personalities, and over the top skeptics... what if we choose to enter our information falsely?

@elite1basket Being in the age group of 12 to 17 years old is not a guarantee of stupidity.
I do not understand the overall point of your comment.
