The Azusa Street Revival was a Pentecostal revival meeting that took place in Los Angeles, California and was led by William J. Seymour, an African American preacher. It began with a meeting on April 14, 1906 at the African Methodist Episcopal Church and continued until roughly 1915.

The revival was characterized by speaking in tongues, dramatic worship services, and inter-racial mingling. The participants received criticism from secular media and Christian theologians for behaviors considered to be outrageous and unorthodox, especially at the time. Today, the revival is considered by historians to be the primary catalyst for the spread of Pentecostalism in the 20th century.

(The Azusa Street Revival Mission building was torn down in 1938).

  • Have a question, what is the baptism of the Holy Spirit and when does it happen?

  • @vividcreativity13

Somebody else care to reply to this question? I'm not the best to describe it. Read Acts chapter 2. It's a series of gifts given after seeking the Lord. These gifts are for empowerment for service. You can't accomplish some things without them because we don't know how to pray properly.

  • the next revival is right now its in my city the new revalation is being cought up in the spirit its moving like a fire

  • Really, what city is that?

  • You know what's sad about some of you all's beliefs on baptism... some of you tell people that they are not saved because they weren't baptized in Jesus' name ONLY. THAT is why the Oneness movement is dangerous to some. "Trinity" holiness doesn't focus on the baptism, although important, but salvation comes BEFORE the baptism! What's said during baptism is HARDLY important since God is God and Jesus' BLOOD cleanses from ALL evil! There is no "ONENESS" or "TRINITY" baptism, just baptism... period

  • For the most part, I agree with you. I don't personally know anyone who claims you have to be baptized in water or in the Holy Ghost to be saved. I don't agree with that theology. I do believe you're more effective for God if you have all his tools for service: faith, prayer, baptism in Spirit, and so on.

  • @vividcreativity13 Acording to Peter Acts 2:38 theres 2 steps to take 1.repent 2.baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. After this it can happen any where the Holy Ghost decends it might be at a church, it might be when your being baptised in water or trough the laying of hands. What is it? its speaking an unknown tounge!

  • I've always heard of the Azuza Street Revival but had never seen a video clip of it!! In the Last Days God will Pour His Spirit on All Flesh... Joel 2:28,29; Acts 2:15-18! God will & is doing it Again!! I Thank My God for the Holy Ghost & Power Acts 1:8

  • God bless you Markus777 for posting this amazing documentary.

  • @markus777 Read Acts 2:38 brother and pray.

  • @yari718

Amen! By their fruits ye shall know them.

  • Jn 3:5 Jesus answered (Nicodemus), "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit."

Mt 28:19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,

Mt 3:11 I am baptizing you with water, for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is mightier than I. I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the holy Spirit and fire.

  • @markus777 If all people would READ there bible and get there understanding from the Holyspirit as they read it,,than we all would know the proper way to do all these doctrines. Most beleivers dont read there bibles is the main problem, and if a person is really bornagain they will want to do these things, like baptisim in the Holyspirit all the new testement folk got it why not the modern beleivers.?

  • @Goodlife51 Its this kind of debate that made the Azusa revival stop.
