Michele Bachmann Lies About Town Hall Attendance

Rep. Michele Bachmann was on Geraldo At Large on 9/12/09 and told a pretty big LIE about the number of people who had attended one of her town hall meetings earlier that day in St. Cloud, MN.

Bachmann claimed that 600 people had been there. NOT TRUE. I was at the town hall in question and took a pictures of the crowd right before the event was scheduled to start. Only 60 people bothered to show up.

Whats worse? Bachmann arrived at the event on time, saw the bleachers were empty and disappeared for 30 minutes hoping theyd fill up.

If that werent bad enough, she had 6 armed police officers for security. Thats 1 police officer for every 10 people who bothered to show up.

Either Bachmann's a liar or she can't count.

what time was this photo, it does not look like anything is even going on, they are probally the first people.

The event was advertised by the Congresswoman's office as starting at 8:30 am, which is when I took the photo. There is some conflicting information between the information initially released by the congresswoman's office and information currently posted on her website. Regardless, the event didn't start until 9am, which is 30 minutes past the initial start time. The crowd didn't really do anything and orderly walked to the mics when the time came. Good question, thanks!
