Alan Price Set - Simon Smith and his amazing dancing bear 1967

Lyrics:
I may go out tomorrow if I can borrow a coat to wear
Oh, I'd step out in style with my sincere smile and my dancing bear
Outrageous, alarming, courageous, charming
Oh, who would think a boy and a bear
Could be well accepted everywhere
It's just amazing how fair people can be

Seen at the nicest places where well-fed faces all stop to stare
Making the grandest entrance is Simon Smith and his dancing bear
They'll love us, won't they?
They feed us, don't they?
Oh, who would think a boy and a bear
Could be well accepted everywhere
It's just amazing how fair people can be

Who needs money when you're funny?
The big attraction everywhere
Will be Simon Smith and his dancing bear
It's Simon Smith and his amazing dancing bear

  • It just gives me a warm feeling, & for 1 minute 49 seconds i'm that child again back in the sixties.

  • Alan sounds very much like Georgie Fame. Both of them are huge talents, typical of so many class acts out of the UK in the 60s. Where has it all gone nowadays?

  • man ... 1967 ... to see it so clearly

a beautiful song sung by a beautiful man perfectly preserved

the power to put a smile on anyone's face for 45 years and forever more

  • @judsons -Nice to hear from someone who likes similar music - cheers!

  • @paulkate72 They performed many times together too.

  • Taped this song when it first came on the radio in 67. The tape wore out a long time ago, so I was happy to find it again here. At the time I didn't know it was a Randy Newman song. I like this version the best.

  • @LordMontystink

    dead right mate..........

    spot on.

  • @NCW250 Yes, pretty good was the Alan Price Set. Lots of good acts today too, on balance, but just generally better sounds then. Thanks for your comments.

  • @paulkate72 …Mr Big Trousers himself with his mix of would be American sound alikes. Yes, I am talking about 'X Factor', and assorted Hip Hop and R'n'B acts. God I feel old!

  • I think all X Factor contestants and aspirants should watch this man, realise that he has what they do not have - talent - and then they should do the right thing and just go and fuck off and die.

  • the 3 people who disliked this must be sad people this is pure nostalgic music at its very best

  • @gibson1973100 i was born 1998 and found out about this song 2011 now i can't get enough of it bahahah.
