Police Find 4 Children In 'Filthy' Home

A couple was charged with child neglect after four young children were found living in squalid conditions, Sugar Creek police said.

Wesley Bredeman, 30, and Melanie Bredeman, 22, were arrested Sunday night.

Police said a 911 call was received at about 10 p.m. from a 4-year-old child saying, "My daddy hit my mommy."

Officers went to the home in the 100 block of South Claremont Avenue. The police chief said it was apparent that an assault had occurred. But officers found the condition of the home more disturbing.

Four children, ages 5, 4, 3, and 6 months old, were inside the home. Authorities said it was obvious the diapers on the younger children had not been changed in days, and one child's lower body was covered in flea bites.
