Basicly my newish Xbox disc drive is fucked ( Philips -liten on), so i swapped it with my old working drive of which the Xbox was fucked, but they're not the same type of drive. The working drive that i'm putting into the working Xbox is a Hitachi 79 (replacing my old philips) and its not compatable, says' Play DVD' And does jack. Will following this this now make it usable??

@bradleyrossross963 The CK3's make it a little more convenient, but aren't needed. You can use your 360 as a power supply. Where you are instructed to turn the CK3 off, unplug your 360 and plug it right back in. DO NOT turn it off with the button. Then where you are to turn the CK3 back on, then you hit your power button. It's a good measure to ground your 360 to your computer. But the chances of not having it grounded being a problem are slim to none. The 360 is a self-grounded system.
Yes but there are a bunch of work arounds, you can make one if you that type of techy person.

@ambermayberry7 Yes you can give this drive a bad flash but it can be recovered so long as you have the original keys.

can you do this on a laptop? living in NEW ZEALAND in a small country town, dont know or hear much about this sort of stuff? i have a SATA 2 USB adaptor for my laptop can i flash it with this? any help appreciated thanks

@kingj200000 Hello Mr New Zealand - Yes you can use a laptop to Mod/Flash a drive but if you're using a USB to SATA it has to be a device that is compatible with your Xbox 360's drive. The most common one used is the VIA card but there are others out there. There is a new device that is being released that should work for you a little better. Check out my page for more info.
