Stop the 2011 Horse Slaughter Ban Lift

As some of you know, as of November 18, Obama sneakily has lifted the ban for horse slaughter and horse consumption in the United States. There are many reasons why this is completely inhumane and unjust.

1. Horses have helped develop our country ever since it started. Christopher Columbus's discovery of America probably would not have happened if he did not have a horse to travel on. We would have not won the battles and wars, and we would be no where in agriculture. Never back then did we consume horses, we used them for farmwork and traveling. We need to appreciate these beautiful animals for what they have done for our country

2. All the horses that go to the slaughterhouses are from racetracks, people who don't want them anymore, and sometimes the wild. Horses are treated with antibiotics, anti-inflamatories, wormers, and other medicines that are not safe for human consumption. Almost all the horses that are send to the slaughterhouses have unknown backgrounds, but the meatpackers dont care about the safety of eating the meat, they just care about making a quick buck.

3. Horses are not just our pets, but our friends. It would be like sending your lifetime best friend off to get shot in the head by a rifle just so that they can get a bit of money.

4. Horse slaughter is more inhumane than cow, pig, or chicken slaughter. Horses are packed as tightly as possible in slaughter trucks, hauled for hundreds of miles without food or water. Some make it out alive while others are found dead. Then they wait on death row for either a bullet in the head or a knife on the spine. Then their bodies are hung and butchered, sometimes still alive while being hung.

5. The U.S. Economy is already in a 13 trillion dollar debt (thanks to heartless Obama) By opening up slaughterhouses for horses, it requires 3-5 million dollars for meat inspection, and the money is coming from tax payers, even though 70% of americans are agaisnt horse slaughter, our money is going to be forced to go into this for no benefits. The meat will be mostly sold in foreign countries because no one in America eats horses, so more money for other countries that we need.
