What is a creature archetype?

The archetype of a creature determines what NPC slots it can fill in the game. Archetype examples include NPC_Medium_Social and TRG_NPC_Epic_Predator. The archetypes of a creature depend on which parts it is made with in the Creature Creator. Many creatures meet the criteria for more than one archetype.

Why should I control my creature's archetype?

When a player is subscribed to a sporecast, the game will bias towards that sporecast's creatures when filling in NPCs in the game. However, if the subscribed sporecasts don't contain any creatures of a particular archetype that the game needs, the game may use a MaxisMade creation, or another creation from the Sporepedia. For maximum control over what content goes into your game, create sporecasts with creations that meet as many archetypes as possible.

  • Is there any way to make a creature a certain archetype? Like, what's the minimum social-to-predatorial ratio for it to be social, and what's the high/low # of points for the levels? And how do you change it to be epic type??

  • Spore(dot)com has a spreadsheet that defines the requirements for each creature archetype. In the description of this video, follow the link that is labeled "More Information on Archetypes."

  • dat ass

  • @SniperMonkeySpore how do you make the skin shiny?????

  • All of those things my "Ballies" or even the "Nekas" or whatever could eat those for dinner. why? Those creatures featured in this video CAN'T FIGHT FOR SH-T!

  • 0:11 - nice ass!

  • maxis creation will always be in the game some times you might hit that ultra rare chance that there is'nt... you automatically sub to maxis and the sub cannot be removed

sub buddy is almost the same thing

  • Nice creatures

  • I've tried that, but it never works. Usually I'll end up getting all Maxis creations, and none in my sporecasts.

  • Dude, there's another, much easier way to get maximum control.

There's an option in the spore menu option list that allows you to make it so you only download from buddies. Maxis creations will stop being put in your games, as will creatures that you don't want.

I find archetypes to be too time-wasting.

  • at 1:08 i was like "WTF IS THAT?!?!?!?" lol

  • some great creatures!
