The Million Man March was a gathering of social activists, en masse, held in Washington, D.C., on October 16, 1995. Working in conjunction with scores of civil rights organizations including many local chapters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (but not the national NAACP) and the National African American Leadership Summit, a leading group of civil rights activists formed the Million Man March Organizing Committee under the leadership of Dr. Benjamin Chavis. The committee invited many prominent speakers to address the audience, and Louis Farrakhan was invited to deliver the keynote address. African American men from across the United States converged on Washington in an effort to "convey to the world a vastly different picture of the Black male"[1] and to unite in self-help and self-defense against economic and social ills plaguing the African American community.

  • Does Farrokon still have his monkey tail or was it removed at birth?

  • @carmendecor Thank u for the reply and comment...but let me ask u this. What significant change or changes have there been since the civil rights period??? Have we truly benefited from Brown Vs. the Board of Education?? It starts with consciousness....If we don't know who we are(individually) we will continue to stay in the same mindset.....The beautiful thing about the day of atonement was you had young and old MEN together!! I agree with u....1 day cant make a change...But spirit can!!

  • @heckler171 History will be made when folks begin to listen and respect each others :-)
