New York City, May 2011. NYPD and United States Secret Service vehicles can be seen here in the vicinity of Ground Zero during the presidential visit of Barack Hussein Obama to celebrate the death of Osama Bin Laden. Forward flashing blue lights distinguish the USSS vehicles from the NYPD vehicles which only use red and white forward flashing lights.

  • Secret Service Suburbs run specific red and blue hide-a-ways; these are NYPD colors and mounting schemes for their executive protection vehicles, of which they have about a dozen or so new model Suburbans. These do not belong to the United States Secret Service.

  • @Sunburn2007 This video contains unmarked NYPD vehicles and unmarked Secret Service vehicles. NYPD doesn't use forward-facing blue lights and federal law enforcement vehicles based permanently in NYC may adopt the forward-facing red lights as well. Take a walk around the Federal Building on Broadway in Manhattan and look closely at the vehicles with the "Federal Law Enforcement" placard on the dash.

Guys guys, easiest way to settle this is to look at the position of the red indicators.

  • 01:15 What did he say?

  • Why doesn't the NYPD use blue lights?

  • @firefighterhorne who cares, they all look cool

  • You would think some of those cars would have more lights in the front. I could barely see the strobes.
