Sarah Chang - Dvorak Violin Concerto (part 1)

First part of 1st movement.

Phew! Please make allowances for the way I've had to split this as I've had an absolute mare trying to work out where the best places were! I actually gave up cos it was causing me too much grief and wasn't gonna post it, but I was hoping you'd understand. The really frustrating thing is, the 1st and 3rd movements are only just over 10 minutes!

She is so talented. Just so talented. However, I don't believe that I am the only one who thinks she has lost something since her younger days in terms of portraying her very deep musical understanding.

Her tone is so sweet, her intonation near flawless. I just do not like the overdone phrasing and the swells in every longer note.

But anyone who denies her talent is ignorant.

@battleblades I agree with you, but I don't perform or have the depth of understanding of the piece anywhere near hers. So my opinion is like a student commenting on their teachers playing, or phrasing of the music. How much value does my opinion really have.

It is a good interpretation. However I prefer Josef Suk's one. He have played it with wonderful expression because he is Czech and Dvořák's great grandson therefore the concert is in his veins. This interpretation is flat (but technically good) and sometimes a bit of out of tune. You can hear the difference in 3rd movement.
