By 1979, NBC was still in last place behind ABC and CBS, so the network decided to launch their "Proud As a Peacock" campaign. But knowing they've been downtrodden in the ratings, a parody of this jingle was done as well. Don Imus got into some trouble after playing it on his WNBC radio show, and copies of the parody were ordered to be destroyed though some of them exist. Here once again on YouTube is the infamous parody.
(NOTE: NBC's fourth-place days are finally over; for the 2013-14 season, they finished second behind CBS in overall viewers but still had the year's #1 show in "Sunday Night Football"!)
