My Green House Productions is proud to present part 1 of a 3 part series about emancipated youth taken from the 2004 book called, Aging Out by Martha Shirk and Gary Stangler. On Their Own tells the compelling stories of 10 youth who have faced the disruption in their lives called foster care. Martha sat down with Jeanette Schnell, a 16+ year foster parent, who specializes in pre-emancipated and emancipated teens and talked about the realities of emancipation, the challenges, and old and new programs that are designed to bridge the gaps from foster care to independence. We hope you enjoy part 1. Comments are welcome.
