Had a friend who got theirs removed in the morning, left the hospital that night and was at a party 2 days later, no crutches or anything. He was really stiff and sore but other than that, he was fine.
I had the same hardware in my leg for almost two years. Both bones were compound open fractures and the fibula (with the nail) became infected (Osteomyelitis) and nail had to be removed as it was interfering with antibiotics. I was expecting a rough recovery after the removal but it was surprisingly very painless by comparison. Was walking without crutches the next day. The wreck that broke my leg was on CODE BLUE "In the Blink of an Eye" Shows my splenectomy but not the leg surgery.. ;)
hy . I had my tibia and fibula broken in a ski accident so I had a rod like that inserted . Is it obligatory to have it removed ? I'm 17 , I do have pain in the leg (i broke my other leg 2 years before, no surgery and it still hurts so I don't blame the rod for the pain now) must I have it removed ? what riscs are there ? what benefits are if I leave it in ? ...excuse my english .
I had mine taken out about nine days ago may 11 2010. about 9 days later my knee is sore and i can barely bend it. So you coule walk normal in 3 wks? no limp? i limp bad now. Anyways I can wait for things to be normal with me
My son walked out of the surgery recovery room. He has not needed crutches at all. Being 16 years old he is tougher than some of us "old men". Recovery is almost complete (3 weeks).
As far as recording it? We have a super cool Doctor that when we asked he made a call to his legal department and they said it would be fine if a nurse filmed it. We supplied the camera and they did the rest. It is pretty intense isn't it?
Thanks for your comment and good luck on your proceedure.

That's so crazy. I had a rod and 4 screws put in my leg after I got hit by car while I was walking across the street.
