Why was this not in the UK press? I have only just heard about this and I am shocked! I met Kelly after an ELO 2 concert in Dartmouth, and I was shocked to see what lovely man he was, He spent 20 minutes chatting to me and my wife signing photos and letting us take pictures, I am truly gutted at this news.

A great tribute to Kelly. He was a major part of ELO.

The reason Kelly changed his first name from Michael was because ELO management (among them: Jeff Lynne) wanted him to use a name other than Michael, or Mike (cf. Mike DeAlbuquerque, for whom Kelly replaced on bass; and cellist Mike Edwards), or even Mi(c)k (Mik Kaminski, violin). They already had many present and past members by that name; he adopted Kelly, since it was already his childhood nickname.

I wonder if Kelly ever approached Jeff about putting his material on an ELO album, almost like George Harrison putting a song or so on a Beatles album... this song is produced to sound like it's from the Out of the Blue/Discovery era, although it was recorded in ELOs Secret Messages era. I can imagine Jeff producing this song sounding more Secret Messagy.
