  • So is this condition kind of the same thing as Dermatillomania (CSP)? And how about people who go through Anorexia, is that considered a body dysmorphic disorder?

  • Both BDD and Anorexia do share the core feature of disturbed body image. However, In BDD the person has a preoccupation with an imagined or slight defect, while a person diagnosed with anorexia, is preoccupied with gaining weight, while underweight. In both of these diagnoses, the person is not perceiving the situation correctly. Compulsive Skin Picking (CSP) often co-occurs with BDD and has shared symptoms: mirror checking, skin touching, and social withdrawl, etc..

  • @jbear4life thats a good book lad,ive used it for years and definitely helps ,but only if you do the homework religiously, not by just reading it.If i was in your position lad id put 100 % into cbt because if not youll wake up in 20yrs time with no life,no friends and no job and no will to get any of them.

  • I hate this disorder more than I hate evil itself.

I was diagnosed when I was in high school, yet I've had it since I was 10 years old. It started out of nowhere, or maybe I just don't remember what caused it. I know I'm an attractive person. I just don't see it. I hate how I look.

  • I'm from Ireland.

And believe me, mental health in this country is still a taboo...

We drink and take drugs to kill it, but we all know in our lonely hell, its a monster!

  • i got a bdd diagnosis for 7 years now. i just wish i was living in another body. I hate mirrors. I'm so concern with having a belly that i contract my belly 100% ot the time, even when I sleep i think. As a result I have enourmous stomach pain, and have to pee every 20 minutes (contracted belly I guess) . Medication helps, But i wish i could go to L A and have my face and body redone just like in the SWAN program. People all find me goodlooking, BUT i dont see that. IM 40.

  • Thank you for this video.
