TAURUS 2 FIRST FLIGHT 5 23 09 0001

ED KAZMIRSKI WAS ONE OF THE "FOUNDING FATHERS" OF THE MODERN RADIO-CONTROLLED AEROBATIC MODEL AIRPLANE, AND WAS THE BEST KNOWN INDIVIDUAL IN THE WORLD WHEN R/C WAS IN ITS INFANCY IN THE EARLY 1960s. AFTER HIS RECENT PASSING, ED'S 2 AIRPLANES WERE FOUND STORED IN A SHIPPING CRATE WITH ITS "SISTER SHIP" (THE 1962 NATS-WINNING TAURUS, ABOUT TO BE DONATED TO THE AMA MUSEUM), THE PLANES WERE LOVINGLY PRESERVED FOR OVER 40 YEARS.

ED KAZMIRSKI'S "OTHER TAURUS", THE SECOND GENERATION "TAURUS -2" HAS BEEN OUTFITTED TO FLY AGAIN. ITS FIRST FLIGHT IS RECORDED HERE AS THE "IMPROVED" TAURUS-2 TAKES TO THE SKY ONCE MORE.

Wow, and where can I get a set of plans for this?

There are no plans for the second generation Taurus-2, (not yet). Whatever changes Ed made were done by means of notes or maybe sketches to himself. This plane was not published.

We are taking lots of measurements, and plans are in the works--someday.

Thanks for the comments. I believe the destiny of this Taurus, (Ed's attempt to improve the original) should be to test its wings again. I think that is the best tribute.

Could you tell me what size engine you used? How much is the flying weight? How much are your throws on your control surfaces Rudder, Elevator, Ailerons? Did you use one or two servos for your ailerons?

I have that plane not assembled new in the box from 1962! Putting it on Ebay soon! Along with many others.
