  • I guess you need to read more mate: Winston Churchill wrote a fantastic encyclopedia. Littorio wasn't hit at all. It was decommissioned and "melt". The Roma was sunk by German aircrafts with the fritz-X or FZ1400, the very first RC bomb hours before she was given to the allied.

The power of the allied in the Med was maintained thanks to the aircover not the fleet. The best of the British fleet was engaged in the Atlantic. They held only the pre WW1 ships in the Med.

  • This is interesting because the impression we get in England is that the Italians were useless at everything and their navy never left port for fear of the Royal Navy . Here we see that the Italian navy did actually fight and make a contribution to the Axis war effort. Equally their air force helped in attcks on British convoys.

  • @marcobagut BUt the truth needs to said! Should I also remind you that at El Alamein, the italians resisted to the last man and in Russia managed to block immense russian forces with equipment that did not match the russians' in any way...

  • @middxguy58 Well yeah...In UK you also get the impression you won the war! MAy I remind you that the Italians did not have aircraft carriers and numerous resourceful colonies which also helped you having naval bases everywhere. It was our special forces "X MAS" which with great danger of their own life sank your Queemn Elizabeth right at the port of Alexandria! Without air cover, I do not know if you could always match our fire power. In the end I am not fascist so I am glad we did not win

  • Death to all Europeans!!!

  • Anyway I've a great respect for all the dead enemies or allies, I hope that in a future all european can cry all dead of the world wars togheter, no more brothers wars.

p.s. sorry for my horrible english :D

  • [3] English-France propaganda gave to Italy all the honour, we fough togheter and italians soldiers are bravest and strong, in WW2 we fought against UK and France and italians are all pussies and cowards. I accept a historical opinion that Italy officials, industry, army, equipment suck and Italy wasn't prepared to WW2 but imho for me is a great bullshit say that italian soldiers fough like pussies: el alamein, tobruk, tunisia, anzio, nettuno, cassino, long gothic lines in Italy.

  • @middxguy58 [2] about italian soldiers. English propaganda after Tobruk recapture gave the honour of the win to germans, now we know that this is totally false, was a italian victory under Rommel lead, so what I wanna say, english after marsa matruh don't accept any losses against italians, and ur propaganda build the stereotypes of italians cowards. In WW1 central empires fronts collapesed first on italian front against Austria, and Germany left the war for a new south front [...]

  • @middxguy58 Italian navy was good and the most important success (for example Scirè u-boat) was on the sea for Italy. Italy haven't a decent equiment and good officials like Rommel, Montgomery or Patton and England+english empire pwned so hard Italy on land especially in Afrika. Anyway watch how italian soldiers fough in north afrika and in Italy, I'm italian and I'm honest, Italy isn't an "Axis power" and it isn't prepared to war like WW2, but I think that there are too many stereotypes [1]

  • Von Tiesenhausen was a rat, when caught on the surface he used the white flag 'tactic' to buy time to dive down to safety.

He did this one too many times and a Fairey Albacore pilot ignored the flag and continued his attack which ultimately resulted in Von Tiesenhausen becoming a subject of the British Commonwealth (Canadian?).

  • the germany gave to italy a weak help in ww2 .

  • Not really embarassing. The capt. announced the sinking of a ship of the Marilynd class and one of the Mississipi class. After the war the US ammitted only the torpedoing of one cruiser (?) in the same period. So i think the capt. was thinking to have sunk a battleship, but it wasn't.
