My dad has been fixing this hydroplane, along side his other co-workers, for about 3 or 4 years now. This is just testing out the new 12 cylinder engine they recently put in. (The reason water is coming out of the side is that water needs to be running through the engine to run properly)

I used to stop in at Bill Cantrell's and Grahm Heath's place now and then in Madison, they fixed drivelines for cars and trucks. Both have passed nowk, Graham used to have reams of old programs and such from Indy and unlimiteds both, he crewed and Bill drove, I remember hearing names like Dupont and Harrah as owners, money money money. Graham messed with midget race cars well into his 70s. Both were characters, I miss um.

I was going to say the same thing. That Merlin sounds pretty lumpy to me... Cool (and rare) vid of a great record holder.

Sounds like a Griffon and not a Merlin. The Griffon has a deeper growl sound from the different firing order.

Gread vid. However, the motor does,nt sound all that healty.
