True ... we are Dead from the spiritual perspective. We need to work on centering ourselves to build the "Holy Grail" that is fit to accept the Upper Light of the Limitless and create this perfect spiritual soul. This is ascension, the Atman, the Re-birth, the Correction, the Transformation, etc based on which religion or mystical study you connect with.

Over the years, it has occurred to me that a reason behind the slandering of Marys name, is because it may provide hope to 50% of the world population. if Mary could rise - from a Church perspective - from fallen woman to beloved of Christ, then there is no bar, absolutely no sin that could make womankind exempt from forgiveness (being the bearers of original sin). What the original intent was in describing her as sinner, is not as important as the message of compassion and forgiveness.
