Amazing stuff! She has all those bananas and yet every guy in the audience is convinced that she needs one more.

My father saw her dance at the Follies when he was in Paris as a young man in the late '20's. She did the banana dance and also descended from the ceiling in a large champagne glass - and very little else. She landed practically in his lap. He took us to Paris in 1959 and we saw her perform. She sang "Don't Touch My Tomatoes," which I thought was great. My mother thought it was a bit racy for her teen-aged son to see. LOL.

Why not? I will forever bring this to the attention of the public, as it seems history is all too soon forgotten, or revised. Even now, High School texts are being published in Texas that reflects a history of the U.S. that is truncated to say the least. Issues such as the war against Native Americans, Slavery, and Jim Crow are marginalized in favor of a more "patriotic" history. African Americans were lynched well into the 20th Century in the Bible belt!

Some black entertainers of the 30’s & 40’s like Paul Robson and Josephine Baker left racist America to live in France.
African Americans have fought in every one of Amerika’s wars, only to return home to the same prejudice, racism and double-standard they left. LIFE Magazine on March 16th, 1942 pages 40 & 41 displayed this racism and hatred to the world. Defense workers fought members of their own unions on the issue of who was to occupy a new Federal housing project called Sojourner Truth.
