Kulamba (Mwambo Wa Achewa) Ceremony takes place at Mukayika in Katete, Eastern Zambia where the Paramount Chief of the Chewas lives. The Chewas from Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique gather for this annual event which usually takes place in August. In 2009, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, the first Zambian President and H.E. Mr. Banda RB were present for the event. The Mozambican and Malawian counterparts sent their representatives. It was a colorful event. We have the whole video on DVD and it will be available on our website soon. We are here to promote our culture.
I am curious about the red hats the men are wearing as well as the women's head-dress. Whats the significance and where do they originate?
