The best thing Indira did was to achieve victory in Bangla war in 1972, huge expansion of TV services in 1980-82, and taking first steps towards liberalization during her second coming in 1979. The worst thing she did was imposing emergency in 1975, allowing her son Sanjay Gandhi to become an extra constitutional authority and nationalizing banks. There can be differing opinions about tenancy and land reforms she brought in, in 1970s.
