Manufacturers of Eden Pure Heaters claim their heaters can save you up to 50 percent on your heating bill. I tested their heater in comparison to my small inexpensive electric heater to see if I could measure any difference in terms of heat output Vs energy use, and there was no difference.

  • Inferred heater heats the whole house v/s the quarts heater heats a small area only. That is the difference.

  • @electronicdawg Believe what you want but my test showed that both heaters heated the same area equally.

  • you state (several times i might add) that there is no difference between the edenpure and others but at the 1:00 mark you state that there is difference with safety.

Shouldn't safety be taken into consideration when buying a space heater?

  • @tiprodoc Sure but I think most of the modern day space heaters are pretty safe.

  • @countryfunkinbunkin First of all, keep things clear in your mind about energy in general. End of day this rule always applies: you convert electricity to heat. Warmer room, more electricity used. There is absolutely no way to heat a room to a warmer temperature with the same amount of electricity. There is absolutely no way to heat a room to the same temperature with less electricity.

  • @countryfunkinbunkin Many of them don't have a thermostat, and just a dial. That dial often just determines how long it runs and how long of a break to take, so to say. In that case, a fan will not change anything.

But back to your assumption: "how can I get more heat and not use more energy" - that is not possible.

  • continued comment--- I am assuming that the melted component was an overload of some type-- which are present in all heating devices to prevent overheating and ignition of the product. One day , when I remember to, I will stop by the local appliance parts store and pick up another overload for a few bucks and solder it in myself. Bottom line-- Eden pure is NOT a company with integrity. Take your business elsewhere.

  • comment continued--then they offered to fix it or replace it for her if she paid over a hundred dollars in shipping and processing and sent it to them in its ORIGINAL packaging ( who keeps that?) since I have a HVAC license-- I took it apart and found that a component had melted. I surmise that it was from faulty workmanship -- a bad solder job- causing the component to overheat be effectively becoming a resistance heater itself-- either that or it was DESIGNED to fail.

  • comment continued-- as far as the Eden pure that my mom got suckered into-- she gave it to me after a couple of months and I placed it in my hallway-- near my central unit's thermostat to fool it and my kids) into thinking the house was warmer than it really was. I cleaned the washable filter at least once a week and after only 2 months it stopped working-- as far as warranty-- its a joke. They claimed that it was last years model even though she purchased it at the beginning of that winter.

  • Comment continued--- please see below. Heating a room or rooms naturally creates a convection movement. hotter air naturally rises above the colder air-- period. Radiant, convection, oil filled, forced air -- doesnt matter-- Hotter air rises to the top of the room-- If you do use zone heating be wise and turn your ceiling fan on low going in reverse to pull the colder air upwards from the center of the room and force the hotter air down around the sides of the room- where seating usually is.

  • My mom - 2 who resides in an 100+ year old house with 15' x 15' rooms with 11' ceilings fell for the hype of eden pure. Sadly since she ALREADY heated her house with natural gas heaters in every room (zone heating) because the house has no central heating unit all she got was a higher electric bill and a $400 deficit in her checking account. She was NOT happy with the Eden pure because she is accustomed to standing near one of her heaters when chilly and moving away when she is warm.

  • @A9L8R It works the same for fans, turn on 15 100 watt box fans in a room, you get the heat off of the motors directly, then the friction from the moving air rubbing on the fan blades, other air, and objects in the room all becomes heat too. Once again you end up with the same amount of heat as a 1500 watt heater, and a very windy room LOL.

  • @A9L8R Electric heaters are all 100% efficient because when something is inefficient the waste product is heat, and all other forms of energy eventually become heat. Turn on 15 100 watt light bulb in a room with no or covered windows, they produce light, and a lot of heat. The light then gets absorbed by objects in the room and becomes... more heat. End result, after an hour you got the same 5120BTUs from those light bulbs as you would have from a standard 1500 watt heater.
