Photos taken of Hialeah Park.
Located in South Florida, Hialeah Park opened in 1921. Known for being among the most beautiful racetracks in the world and as the home to a flock of flamingos, the track is both listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an official Audubon Society sanctuary for the American Flamingo.
The last race ran at Hialeah Park was on May 22, 2001. While the frontside of the track is still clearly intact, although in desperate need of repair, the backside barn area and famed horsepath were demolished in 2007. There is an organization called Citizens to Save Hialeah Park with a mission to restore, reopen, and preserve the historic racetrack.

Very well done. I had the pleasure of visiting Hialeah in the early 70's. It remains the most beautiful track that I've ever seen. So sad that the 'Sport of Kings'
has taken a similar plight.

Umm, what are you guys complaining about? They are in the making of restoring and opening up Hialeah Park again, including the race track.

I live near the racetrack and when the stables were taken down I cried...that was one of my first memories as a kid..riding by the racetrack and seeing the horses in the stable..its so depressing to pass it now it almost hurts
