What can be done about the City of London? - Fresh thinking for Osborne, Cable and all the new Treasury bosses

This was the subject of a unique Big City Brainstorm to mark the launch of the new Masters in Creativity, Innovation and Leadership from City University London.

The Big City Brainstorm had more than 85 participants from across the creative, technology, business and educational sectors, who were tasked with devising creative ideas for the Square Mile to recover its reputation.

The City Needs Rehab!

Led by Roger Neill, Director of City University's Centre for Creativity in Professional Practice, the brainstorm highlighted the polarisation of opinion that exists about the City of Londons financial problems.

Roger says about the event: "Many of the generated ideas illustrate the palpable sense of anger felt by those outside of the financial services sector towards it. This is in stark contrast to the attitudes we found within the City of London, which are best characterised as 'Problem, what problem?'
The dominant view from the brainstorm is that the City must completely reassess its introverted approach and pursuit of short-term gain, if it is to re-establish the trust of the British people and global markets."
