Birgenair Flight 301 was a Puerto Plata-Gander-Berlin-Frankfurt flight chartered by Turkish-managed Birgenair partner Alas Nacionales ("National Wings"). On 6 February 1996 the Boeing 757-225 operating the route crashed shortly after take-off from Puerto Plata's Gregorio Luperón International Airport in the Dominican Republic.

  • Exactly like that AeroPeru 757

  • The pilots should have given full power to the engines straight after the stickshaker activated. They did not commence this action too late

  • it's sooo sad when there's little kids on the planes :( Not that anyone should have to face death in such a horrific and terrifying manner, but it's especially awful to watch the children being so scared. And their poor parents too, I can't imagine how they feel, just trapped and not able to do anything to protect their children.

  • @distractos As an avid FSX pilot myself, I was thinking the same thing from the second I saw it. I thought to myself when he said both AS indicators were wrong that no, one was right and that the stick shaker was right and to put the nose down. Don't knock FSX; it's not as unrealistic as people think. But then again, it's far easier to fly when you can hit pause, and the worse thing that can happen is you end up having to take off again from where you started versus dying.

  • it is not easy to say want you should do if you were instead of the pilots.. but that doen't remove the blame. after all 70% of the crashes are human error ;[ I STILL can not understand want when wrong in the pilots' head. no one of them said anything.... r.i.p. to all victims;[ then they confuse the good air speed indicator and think both are wrong.

  • @distractos Pilots nowdays are not pilots anymore, but autopilots made of meat. They can only work based on the programming they receive at "training".

And the requirements for becoming a pilot only worsen the problem. Instead of taking skill and instinct on account, they mostly care about degrees.

Robin Olds didn't need an engineering degree to become a fighter ace.

  • omg .:(:(:(

  • I swear to god this pilots are completely ignorant and inexperienced..... how could you say 'what am i to do now when you are the pilot' they could have saved the plane and all the passengers if the pushed down on the stick to push the plane in a downwards position so that airflow increases on the wings generating lift which would have pulled out of the stall..i know this and i am not even a pilot but a 10th grade student in high school that plays flight simulator x.

  • @NoelCon100 176 passengers died in this horrible accident R.I.P.

  • how many passengers where killed?

  • clearly its Boings autopilots fault!
