Last one - this leg covers from Marton to Wanganui. No crossings but three tunnels. Watch for the cars at the level crossong - they come out of nowhere.

  • Hi, is this going to be a regular feature for you, the four minute videos.

    I'll certainly subscribe if I haven't already.

It brings back memories from when I used to work for the NZR in the 1980's in Taumarunui and Westfield, being the cab of a Dx locomotive was awesome and when notching up from 7 to 8, looking back and seeing the power a flames exhausting out of the exhaust stack was awesome, 750hp in the making, truly memorable sights, thanks Andrew

  • @andy280561 Hi Andrew - I wish I could say yes, but cab rides are such a rare treat i have no idea when my next one, if ever, will be. These 4 minute clips are sped up versions of my cabride series of DVD's. Although I don't advertise or promote it, I have a DVD that has all of my cabride music videos on it. Happy to send one to you in Oz if you flick me a few bucks for postage. My DVD's can be purchased from TrainPictures. Details on my website Erin.

  • Just been planning a trip out to Westmere. Believe me, this video has been of MAJOR help in doing that!

  • @zelo1954 Excellent. If you film a train at Aramoho, then you can beat it to Blueskin Rd overpass by driving up the narrow and windy (shingle) Kaikokopu Rd, and by shooting along SH 3, you should also beat it to Symes Rd. Westmere bank doesn't offer many places to shoot, if any - it's in the middle of private property with no road access. I think there's a dirt track that leads to Matipo Park, but I've never ventured up there.

  • Love the country and love the video

  • Thanks Erin

  • Thanx for that. I was going to do a Kaikokopu/Blueskin/Brunswick/Somme circle but it seems like I'd be wasting my time and would be better off sticking to the overbridge (which I know is very narrow - so will need to find some grass with a clear view) and/or Westmere station itself at the very summit. But I'm looking at all areas between Turakina tunnel and Kai Iwi.

  • Awesome.

  • great video coverage...im a train and nz railways fan...this is terrific!

  • Excellent work, Thanks
