With that army canteen sitting on top it looks very unstable so not something i would use outdoors where a slight breeze could cause all kinds of probelms.

for the record, water is considered safe to drink after it have been either microfiltered through a filter small enough to hold viruses or it's reached a rolling boil for one full minute
