I took a vacation day from work, just so I could play with my new camera today :-D It's nice to be able to finally make a video without using the continuous drive on my 350d. I'll probably remake this a few times over as I get more footage that works better together. Maybe sync up the clips with what's happening with the video more. I edited the sequences sloppily together with premiere cs4. I'm still learning the whole video editing thing, so any tips about editing footage from the 500d would be most welcome.

Camera: Canon 500d
Settings: 720p 30fps - Monochrome
Lens: Sigma 105mm F2.8 Macro
Subject: Oil in Water
Music: Bonobo - Recurring

Thanks for viewing!

  • Great

    Can u please Show me Ur setup for this ???

  • Nice work! The music fits perfectly as well. But how did you manage to get that smooth lighting in the background? Was it kind of a table top with light from beneath? Is there any chance for you to explain how you shot this video? Would be pretty interesting for all of us to know ;)

  • great work :)

  • part 2: so you could say cut to the next scene when a bubble you want the viewer to focus on.....AFTER it leaves a position(or shape etc) you love. That way you're isolating and selecting, and thus presenting your own thoughts......you might already be doing this. just thought i'd ramble a bit :)

  • one thing i can say about editing video in general, is with every scene, try to edit it so that it expresses only one complete action or idea. For an obvious example, if a person says "hi, my name is Mr. smith and I do stuff. When I blah blah blah...." If the only idea you needed was "hi my name....do stuff" and you don't need the blah blahs, you would cut before he said "when I." You can apply this logic to really fine tune and form an idea even with abstract images;

  • very nice! what kind of oil is it? olive oil?

  • real nice observation man, like it. di you have problems editing this? Did you just edit straight from camera to fcp or Premiere Pro or you convert it first?
