  • Never understood the "mystery" part of modes. It IS basic information. Derivative and paralell will give a good grounding. The only thing I add is the numbers, 1is ionian, 2 is dorian etc. So sometimes I'll ask a student for ex. for C dorian, well dorian is built off the 2nd degree of a major scale, so C is the 2nd degree of which major scale. This helps some students understand. If they don't have the time to figure it out...I agree...Fu*k 'em. Thanks P.B.

  • I love you Mr PebberBrown. not in a homo way but because I learned so much from you in the past year. that I am forever thinking about how much I appreciate you and your hard work putting together these lessons and offering free lesson charts and the time you take to explain what we are to do. ...

  • Thank you very much Pebber, modes don't confuse me anymore :)

  • Nice One Pebber

    I'm writing it out!

  • I think a big help in understanding modes is to first understand the harmonized major scale and its degrees (what 7th chords are built on each of the major scale's degrees).

  • I finally get it!

  • very good explanation how it works, thx a lot Pebber.

  • 8:59 is exactly what happens to a lot of folks, me included. Just started playing guitar and you giving back to the populace like you do has put years of learning into an almost empty bag. Thanks for another great lesson!

  • how do u figure it out what mode starts in a solo. if the root is start with A major are you going to start with Ionian cuz starts with A major

  • @pebberbrown Right! Just another "good habit" I "absorbed" from DAY ONE of studying the PB way. "F Maj", "B min"...for example: Not just a common sense way to right a chord, but AGAIN....100% IDIOT PROOF (no guesswork required).
