Turkey extends grip on armed forces

Turkey's government has been stepping up its efforts to arrest and prosecute dozens of army generals accused of a military coup plot.

The former head of the Turkish armed forces has become the biggest casualty of yet another crackdown on alleged conspirators.

In part three of our special series on Turkey, Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbarra takes a look at why Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister, is ramping up civilian control to bring the military firmly under civilian control.
