This is the first public demonstration of the Wright Brothers airplane done for the US Army in 1908 some five years after their first flight. The footage used here is from the Ft. Myer demonstrations as well as some clips from the demonstrations held for the French earlier that year in Le Mans, France. The second half of the clip shows Donald Douglas (Douglas Aircraft) reminiscing about seeing the Wright Brothers as a child.

Wilbur was not there in Ft. Myers. He was in France doing the same thing - doing demonstrations for the French.
