Looks like you've got a Strong projector being fed by Alpha platters. Do the platters really spin so fast that you need to put film stabilizers on the platter? We've never had a film fly off of an Alpha system in the 17 years I've been in the booth. Just wondering. Nice post.

I'm a projectionist too and was trained how to build prints, thread machines, break down prints and trouble shoot. I may not know all the names of the parts, but I do my job well and movies start on time. During training, we learn the nicknames, ring, brain, etc. Every industry has nicknames for its equipment. I don't think knowing the technical names for everything makes you more qualified to work up there than not.

It is called a Center Feed Control Assembly. If you don't know that the things in a projector are for you have no business up there.

Well man, blame the company, not me. I just did as I was told. I learned how to thread and build film, and how to take care of it all... it's not such a big deal that I don't know every part of the projector.
