Not all. Where did you get that idea? However how its constructed, would be considered a new technology.  The EVA between the bi-level protects the top deck from failing while giving the board more reflex or response upon bringing pressure on the kick tail which improves overall ollie power. It also reduces weight. Go try one. Matt Manzari and Stu Shinn seem to like it.
