  • With heavy heart I regret to inform you that Frankenstien a.k.a. Frankie had to be put down just before Christmas, while on patrol in the time following this video (thank you for posting it), his coffin bone detached from the wall of his hoof and he was limping and in pain alot. We were partners for just over a year and he was a wonderful animal. I will always miss him. Again thank you for the video.

  • I am so sorry to hear that! -they might be tough animals, but they can be so delicate. I fell in love with Frankie's personality at the competition; you are lucky to have had him. :) All of those horses deserve a lot of credit. (if you want a copy of the video for yourself, let me know)

  • Great job to all of you!! Is there an officer named Jerry Lewis at all involved in these competitions? It would be the Trenton Police Department as I recall.

  • Sorry, I wouldn't know. I was just a happy spectator--but there are a bunch of videos from this event. It took place in Morristown, NJ and was supposedly a National Event, so who knows.

  • Poor horsemanship. Who taught that fat cop how to ride?

  • That's why you bombproof them. So they're not afraid of everything. You can't keep a horse in a little box and not let them experience anything. I have a 4 year old tb gelding, and we always practice with a plastic bag on a stick before and during riding with him. It's good for the horse to learn to be strong and not afraid. It also teaches them (and the rider) confidence. This is an awesome video. ^^

  • Aw. He's an pretty cute Percheron. But darn that coffin bone. A common problem in draft horses...it sucks.

  • he did a great job there, i'm sorry to hear that he was put down

  • He did an awesome job. Sorry to hear about being euthanized. My Belgian also had a leg issue.

  • That was a gorgeous horse, garsh I hate to have read that he was put down T^T

I can't wait to get into the academy and start trying to get into a mounted unit.

  • Nice Vid!!!

  • Thank you very much for your reply!
