Life is short. Live, laugh, enjoy and thank God for every day.

If you were or are still a fan, this rendition will probably make you tear up.

With John's untimely death, the words are just all that much more evocative.

***********
The Wildlife Concert was John Denver's last TV Concert. It was taped in New York City in February 1995 and is available on DVD.

Great buy - almost 2 hours of John at his very best.

  • I live in West Virginia now and there is not a day that goes by that I don't play Country Roads. Got to see John perform a dozen times...mostly in the Baltimore/Washington area...and also got to see him perform with the Starlight Vocal Band as well..I believe Bill Danoff wrote Country Roads, and I have no doubt that John probably spent a bit of time in the Mountain State before heading out to Colorado. All of us are richer in spirit when we hear him sing...even to this day.

  • @CacaponWV - "Take Me Home, Country Roads" was written by John Denver, Taffy Nivert, and Bill Danoff .

  • I will always remember that cold February night waiting to get into the studio. Wow, Three hour of John’s music was great. Talking to James Burton a bit and just having a great time. The memory will last a lifetime.

  • @john19702 - I presume you mean the night in 1995 that this show was taped. Exactly where in New York did it take place? I think you were blessed to see that particular show which was probably one of the best John ever did.

  • @bctvguy. One funny note about the show. If you watch Country Roads (the first song john played that night) there is a younger African American man/boy sitting front row center. As John performed I saw him looking at the boy who was not clapping or even looked like he was enjoying the performance. Before the second song the producer moved that boy and placed Carroll Blavins (fan club president) in that seat.I'm sure john needed him moved so he could give a great show.

  • @john19702 - I know exactly who you mean. The guy was wearing a white shirt and he looked like he didn't want to be there. Gotta wonder why he even went. Smart move to have moved him - he could have easily ruined JD's vibe and the whole show. Was the sound and mix in the studio as good as it sounds in the recorded product or was the final show enhanced to make it sound as wonderful as it does?

  • I can't imagine that there will ever walk upon this earth a heart more true or a soul more pure than John Denver. May God grant me the grace to be half the man he was.

  • My fav john denver song! his music is timeless. God rest your soul my friend

  • @500swim1

Sounds like my life. We used to drive out West from Georgia every few years. My mom especially loved John Denver. The 8-track to his first Greatest Hits records got played so much I thought the tape would break, but I learned it all before I could read.

  • After a 3 month trip out west in 1976 at age 5 I started school as the only student with every John Denver song memorized! I have treasured his music ever since, an unabashed fan throughout high school, college and beyond. I was lucky to attend several concerts of John's, and it always felt like he was singing only to me. I guess that explains the reoccurring dream I would have within a couple of weeks of each concert. Rocky mountains, camping, John, me, my family, and every song I knew!

  • wow he did this when I was an eight year old

  • Love your art with all my hart

  • I loved John Denver by song books, the first song i was able to pick on my guitar was "sunshine on my shoulder" I got myself a guitar My Mom tried the guitar and I was shocked! I didn't know she knew how to play guitar.

  • @pepingroxas Taylors are killer guitars.. I play a Martin D35 and I'd trade straight up for a Taylor... never thought I'd say that since I've wanted a Martin for years.

  • THANKS MOM FOR THE ALBUMS (THOSE VINYL THNGS) I GOT TO LISTEN

TO ON YOUR BIG STEREO CABINET GROWING UP..... NOT KNOWING HOW

MUCH IT WOULD MEAN AND HOW MUCH THE "MEMORIES" WE SHARED WOULD MEAN TO ME.

    LOVE YOUR SON, STEVE

  • Oh my goodness this is just wonderful! I'm in such a comfortable and warm place.. ;)
