Who Killed The Electric Car?

Even a hybrid, if done properly, is better than combustion power though a mechanical transmission—even without even plugging in. (There is a reason why diesel locomotives are electric hybrids.) There is less loss through an electric drive-train. And much energy can be reclaimed by regenerative braking. (The fuel and ignition systems are also a lot simpler, since driving a generator doesn't involve wildly varying speed and load.)

Exactly! This is the route hybrid cars should take. The combustion engine should only provide electricity, no drive-train/power-train. Electric motors for wheel power only.

one thing i know is that humans are stupid - we have made ourselves hostages of a crude oil climate. - sad but true.

the whole fuel issue is academic until they start making the cars out of carbon fiber - waaaay lighter, waaaay stronger.

and a great way to store all that excess carbon we have in our atmosphere. A new invention called a black phantom can extract and store carbon for up to 40000 years. As a byproduct it also produces bio gas and bio oil.
