On May 29, 2011, Mercenary X opened up for Loudness at Warehouse Live. I am, of course, the Mercenary X drummer and this mini-doc covers the behind-the-scenes setup as well as a few choice drum cam shots from the performance.
The clips here are meant to show off my ability to play keyboards and drums simultaneously, which I do in a number of Mercenary X songs. If the music or novel technique intrigues you, then you should definitely check us out on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/MercenaryXMetal and come to one of our shows!
Song clips are from:
1:54 - Mercy 696 - This song has the most keyboard changes, it starts with an organ, has some strings in the verses and some ethereal bells in the atmospheric breakdown
3:08 - Headcrusher originally by Megadeth - This is a small clip of our Megadeth cover
4:04 - The Dread - This has the most technically difficult keyboard part, there is a 3 on 4 synth line over a double bass drum part that is in unison with the guitars. The strings then double the vocal line.
4:51 - The Dread - Another clip from this song's ending, I just really like playing the blasts here.
5:13 - Payin' the Price - This is the end of the guitar solo from this song, I am supporting the guitar with some strings. The rest is thrashy head-banging fun, though.
6:45 - Ice Cream Truck
Great show man!
