In a public speech at The American University of Paris on November 21, former Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey spoke out on the issues of "Balancing Democracy, Justice, and Security".
General Mukaseys thoughts were particularly relevant and timely given the recent shootings at Fort Hood, Texas, and the decision by current Attorney General, Eric Holder, to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and several co-conspirators in a New York civilian court...
It was followed by questions moderated by the chairman of Republicans Abroad France, Stuart Haugen, such as:
• Is there any chance that the president could say, "This is a bad idea, we're going to step back and not do this"? (0:02)
• Evelyne Joslain: At the moment, we heard that between the administration and the intelligence services, we heard there was a lack of communication... (1:05)
• How will they find a jury in New York City? (2:23)
• Stu Haugen (4:59)
• Paul Reen: In your opinion, does this, the trial in New York, set any sort of precedent, that we *have* to do civil trials in the future (7:51)
