In this video we will show you how to "tweek" a cheap irish whistle to make it a better instrument. There is no specialist skills required and each step is easy to follow.

  • Found that certain whistles have more (or stronger) glue and haven't been able melt it via hot water. I now usually use a hair dryer with attachment and blow the hot air onto where the barrel meets the fipple (and avoid the tip of the fipple). Rotate the whistle and continue heating until the glue releases.

  • Hi Linda. Yes that works too. I have found if the glue is a little more "fixed" to put the whistle head in just as the kettle has boiled when the water is hottest and a few goes at this normally works. Hope you are keeping well. Did you get to any of the concerts in the Toronto area last Oct/Nov?

  • Wish I could have made it to the concerts, but we live north of Calgary, AB. Toronto is a long way from us. Will have to wait until you come to western Canada OR to Phoenix, AZ (we are here during the winter months). Blessings!
