This baitfish pattern is one of my favorites for catching Red Fish in very shallow water. The deer hair gives it buoyancy to keep it off the bottom but is trimmed very small and tied on a larger hook to get the fly to sink just below the surface. Often these fish are in less than a foot of water and over oysters so the fly needs to stay off the bottom. I like to tie it on a 1/0 hook and the other materials are: Krystal flash, straight cut zonker, and deer belly hair. This pattern is also great on bass and any pretty much any other fish that eat baitfish.

  • I set it on R3 which is 60 FPS. There may be a better setting but I always keep it there because it has amazing slow motion play back. I do not think that I have even used the other settings. I'm open for suggestions.

  • Pretty obvious what you are watching while tying flies.
